Just when you think you've seen everything...

I was just having a wander with my wife when she pointed out the window display (as can be seen in the picture below). It was the first time this year I looked at something with childlike amazement, and absolutely prompted me to take a note to organise a swift return.

What she had discovered was a pop-up restaurant by the name of Mussel Men , and I'm so glad she did...

I am a real fan of seafood, in fact I think there isn't anything that comes from the sea, and is edible, that I wouldn't at least try, and Mussel Men is precisely that, a place where the fruits of the deep are brought to your plate, and all you can do is enjoy.

The atmosphere is wonderful too, with the staff decked out in nautical wear, and Captain Bob wandering around offering people to take him on in a thumb wrestling war (worth a try, you could win a t-shirt).

All of this would pale into insignificance if the food wasn't up to scratch - but look at the choices ....there's lobster, oysters, crab, and of course the mussels of the name - all delicious, of course - with special cocktail concoctions or Prosecco to wash them all down with. Now what could be better than a plate of mussels and chips, with a glass of bubbles, eh?

So, gather your sea-faring chums, work up an appetite, and exercise those thumbs, Captain Bob is waiting for you, and he doesn't lose too often...



(Remember this is a pop-up - it may be best to check it is still open before you decide to visit - as they have a habit of disappearing as quickly as they arrive!)
