Are you in a band trying to catch its first break? Or are you a singer who dreams of getting signed? Every month Southampton's
River Studios and
MAS Records holds a free designed featuring guest speakers who work in the industry and can give you insight into the music industry and answer questions. Each masterclass focusses on a different aspect of the music industry. The first masterclass for 2018 will be held on January 7th and the special guests are Leon Haynes from Universal Music and radio host Geoff Dorsett.
Leon Haynes will be discussing the role of record labels in the music industry and what record labels do to support their artists. He'll also be giving advice on how to get signed to a record label. Geoff Dorsett will handle the broadcasting side of things, giving insight into the best ways to get your music played on the radio and discussing the important role that radio interviews can play for boosting your bands' profile.
As well as talks by the guest speakers, there will also be opportunities to ask questions and get critiques of your music at the end of the session.
As well as monthly masterclasses, River Studios have an active recording studio available for hire as well as mixing and mastering services. If your musical skills need a fine tune you can also sign up for singing lessons or music lessons in guitar, songwriting, drums, piano, saxophone and more. If you're interested in picking up regular lessons, check out the
River Studios website for more information.
The is free, but places are limited, so it's important that you
reserve your spot before they run out. The Masterclass runs from 11am till 3pm. River Studios is located at 32 Winsor Rd, Totton.
