This summer just gone, I spent a month in India travelling through the cities and the Himalayas. One of the things I was most excited for was the food. Samosas, Bhajis, Masala, Dhal. Anything Indian, you name it, I'll eat it.

I soon discovered that the food in India was not the same as 'Indian' food back home. When I visit my usual curry house, you get a curry, some rice, and maybe a few sides. In India you get at least three different curries, rice, and yoghurt to add if anything's too spicy for you. And you can order sides too. It's fantastic.

Coming home, I was disappointed to return to the usual one curry - one rice - one side deal. I gave up on Indian for a while.

Until I discovered Mowgli's in the Corn Exchange. The food here is as Indian as it gets. They serve food in 'tiffins', where you choose a number of different dishes from carbs, meat, starters and sides. They also have a fantastic gluten free and vegan menu. What's even more exciting is you can choose a 'food roulette' if you can't quite make up your mind and see what delicious food you end up with!

With friendly waiters and unique decor, it may just be my favourite restaurant in Manchester. For less than £15 per person (depending what you choose), you can get what I would deem an Indian Banquet.
