Watching a movie on a roof might not be the first idea that springs to mind when it comes to arranging a night out, but if you're looking for something a little different, the Rooftop Film Club could well be an option.


With warmer (and hopefully dry) weather just around the corner, the Rooftop Film Club's just about ready to kick off another five-month season of outdoor movies, this time alternating between not one but two venues in the capital: the Queen of Hoxton in Shoreditch and the Bussey Building in Peckham Rye.

Enjoy a drink with friends before the show starts, and take in the wonderful night-time views of the local area and beyond. For the main event, it's simply a case of donning the wireless headphones and settling into your comfy seat.

Movies include everything from yesterday's blockbusters to more recent hits – among them Jaws, Trainspotting, Citizen Kane, Philomena, Taxi Driver, Withnail and I, The Lego Movie, Spinal Tap and Casablanca.


Bring some warm clothes in case it gets a bit chilly, and take note – the event goes ahead come rain or shine. The club even sells waterproof ponchos just in case the heavens do decide to open.

If you fancy checking out a movie at the Rooftop Film Club, which runs from the start of May till the end of September, make sure you sort your tickets as soon as you can – last summer's event saw more than 200 sold-out screenings.
