This place really exists - I promise...
If you have ventured around Dalston, you will be aware that things get more and more interesting the further you get away from the stations - if you keep heading towards Stoke Newington, really interesting things can be found - including the
Moustache Bar .
So, what to expect? Well, you may find some people with moustaches (probably), a lot of people with beards (definitely) and a whole word of interesting and cutting edge sounds.
Ok, here's what you'll find - opening the door will lead you down into a basement, and in that basement is the Moustache Bar - expect a wall full of random pictures of people sporting moustaches, both actual and drawn on, a long-bar for drinks and a sound system which looks like it good entertain a room much bigger than this. It attracts the locals and hipsters alike, not least because of the great value prices, which really are old school.
What else to say? Well, the music is made up a mixture of electronic, indie and whatever is 'in' at the moment - with hip hop, house, dance and even a bit of cheese getting a look in from time to time.
One to look out for is
Scared to Dance , an Indie night par excellence, who hold well attended events, especially when they dedicate one night to particular artists - especially Pulp, the famous Sheffield Britpop band.
Don't forget, should you not enter with a moustache, you may leave with one on the way out, a souvenir of a really good, and relatively cheap night out in East London.
