In my spare time, I often enjoy getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city and retreating to somewhere calmer and more reserved and what better place to go than Morecambe.
Morecambe is a small seaside resort off the Northwest coast of England. Even though it is about two hour drive from Leeds, it is well worth it. Morecambe has a large prom that stretches right around the seafront and is a great place to go for a beautiful scenic walk. You can look over the panoramic view of right over to the misty Lakeland Hills in the distance. Morecambe has a beautiful golden beach where you could take a nice leisurely walk on the soft sands, whilst dipping your feet in the sea. There are also plenty of coffee shops and ice-cream parlours which overlook the beauty of the bay.
If you are searching for a more exciting trip away, Morecambe can offer fun for all the family. For family fun, there is a cinema, bowling alley and amusements - but nothing is better than a sunny day with a sandy beach and waves to splash in!
Morecambe also has many parks where children can go and play. The most prominent one being happy mount park, where there is a newly built water park area, swings, trampolines, bowls for adult and many more.
Morecambe has many festivals that are on all year round. The most recent festival is a spooky Halloween night in happy mount park on the 31st of October.
Furthermore 2012 will mark four hundred years since the imprisonment and trials of the Lancashire Witches, otherwise known as the Pendle Witches. Why not come to Morecambe and learn more about this darker part of Lancashire's history with a special programme of events, book launches and exhibitions running throughout the year.
