Full of Song and Play
Hearing is the first sense babies develop; the sound of their mother's voice brings comfort, and Monkey Music believe that these sounds create 'happy vibes'. Established in 1993, the organisation introduces children to music in a fun, friendly environment. There are four different groups for different ages, which aim to promote emotional and mental growth:
1. 'Rock 'n Roll' starts from the age of three months with absorbing sounds and stimulating activities.
2. 'Heigh-Ho' allows tots from one years old to move around in a safe environment, while responding to musical stimuli.
3. 'Jiggety-Jig' is the place for toddlers. 2-3 year olds will start dancing to the music and be able to play percussion instruments.
4. 'Ding-Dong' is for 3-4 year olds, and starts teaching children how to recognise written music.
Monkey Music groups run during term time, but they also hold workshops for mixed ages over the holidays, provide nursery classes, and cater birthday parties.
As well as classes, Monkey Music also sell related merchandise such as soft toys, t-shirts, and music CDs.
You can get a free trial session before signing up to decide whether you are interested. If you do want to join a group, you can then contact the head office to find out term and membership fees.
