The Greek myth of the Minotaur is one of my favourites, and now kids can enjoy it too at the Polka Theatre. But this is a Minotaur myth with a modern day twist. Freddie goes on an epic adventure after receiving a mysterious text message from his dad; he is in dire trouble, and only Freddie can help. It is not your run of the day mission either; Freddie has to travel back in time to the labyrinth of ancient Minos, and face a fearsome beast that is half man, half bull. Can he rescue his father from the Minotaur?
Aimed at children 8 - 14 years old,
Minotaur was written by the award-winning playwright, Kevin Dyer, who has previously written the play.
The Monster Under The Bed. It will run between the 4th April - 24th May with both sign language and audio described performances available. Tickets are £13.50 or £9 concessions, and includes an post-show talk on the 19th April.
Primary school children can also enter a competition; write your own modern day myth for a chance for it to be performed at the Polka Theatre on the 16th May. It must be inspired by Greek myth and no longer than a thousand words.
