Miller and Carter is known in the pub-come-gastro-pub scene as one the leading venues in the industry; they offer impeccable service, British meat served how you like it, and an all-too comfortable setting.



There are numerous steak houses across Birmingham, but visit Miller and Carter's Sutton Coldfield branch, and you'll struggle to find any better. It's situated on the lake in Sutton park, which makes it terribly picturesque and romantic.

I was catching up with a friend who I hadn't seen for months; we sought somewhere quiet, comfortable, and ideally where served good food. Not a hard brief to fill I thought, but we're particular.



As we pulled into Miller and Carter, it seemed we'd found the spot. We sank into the plush seats, and salivated over the range of steak and grilled meats.

M&C boasts a standard pub decor - (woody), carpets, a mixture of booths and wooden chairs, and a crackling fire in the lounge area. It has a very 'British' feel, and I do like a bit of heritage.

Whilst placing our order the staff ask you how you like your steak, and you choose your dressings, and sauce. Our meals were served within 15 minutes, which is record timing for a steakhouse I've found. My steak was a delicious hunk of meat cooked exactly how I like it. I enjoyed a side salad, creamy sauce and jacket potato. Filling, and what my Auntie would call 'proper' food.



Once we'd been served however, my friend decided to change his sauce order, which wasn't a problem - they were more than accommodating.

Although M&C is a steakhouse, they still cater for the vegetarian who has ventured in with friends. All the sides are delicious: good side salads, potatoes are good.

The service was fantastic; nothing seemed too much for our waitress, and she seemed to have the memory of an elephant - nothing was noted down, she remembered our orders, and was professional, yet friendly throughout our meal. We tipped her heavily, and she was all too gracious and thankful.

I'd definitely go again, for both the service and delicious steaks.
