It's another of my favourite places, and probably one of my favourite Spanish restaurants in London - especially if you manage to get a seat at the horseshoe-shaped bar. The name is
- and here's why you should go there...
It is actually one of the first authentic tapas-style Spanish restaurants to land in London (it has been in Waterloo since 1987) - and numbers over
forty different tapas to try, certainly enough to solve your problem appetite.
Now some of the reasons why I like this place, and why you should too:
First of all, the restaurant actually used to be a
bank (in fact, if you look at the windows closely, you will still see the imprint of the previous occupiers name and logo there).
Secondly, not only do they have a really wide selection of wines - they also produce their own, thanks to owning a vineyard in the Spanish region of Valencia.
They have amazing pictures of traditional costumes adorning the walls all the way around the room - and none of them have faces (really)...
Finally, and my most favourite reason, often perched above the door, accessed by ladder, you will find a Spanish guitarist providing live music for the people below. The look of wonder when people realise this is the source of the music is something to behold - and provides that extra factor that makes you want to come and bring your friends.
So, what more can I say than that? Some of the best Spanish food coupled with an amazing range of wine, and a guitarist who perches above you, for your listening pleasure - if I could afford it, I'd be there every week...
