Are you one of the millions of Britons that consume an average of 84.2kg in meat per annum?
We Brits eat more than double the world average; which stands at 41.9kg per person per annum. This increasing meat consumption of recent years is having a serious toll on our health, the environment and the general welfare of animals.
Meat Free Week 23rd - 29th March 2015, hopes to shed light on these global issues and invoke a change in the way we eat, shop and think about meat.
Their website has all the information you need on setting up a fundraising page to aid the related cause of your choice, meat free recipes and some scary statistics on how many animals the UK slaughters to keep up with the demand.
Even if you don't commit to raising money, I would at least suggest taking part. As well as maybe considering a serious reduction to the amount of meat you eat on a regular basis, eating more meat than is actually good for us is a bad habit the nation's gotten into.
