Steve McNeil and Sam Pamphilon are a comedy duo that have been performing together since 2009. Last year they decided that they wanted to combine their love of comedy with their love of games, and thus Go 8-Bit was born. With twelve sell-out shows in a row, it is hugely popular, and tickets start from just £3.50 for early bird bookers.
The next performance will be at the Wenlock & Essex bar in Islington on the 22nd April from 7pm, and is a must for anyone who loves playing video games.
Guest comedians join Steve and Sam on stage and become members of either Team McNeil or Team Pamphilon. To earn points they must battle each other out in video-gaming combat, such a Mario Kart, and gaming-based comedy stand-up, sketches, or songs. The losers of each round must then take a punishment. For example, in one show, the loser was given a slot machine that whipped up a horrid cocktail for him to drink: marmite and sardines.
There is also audience participation, such as playing mobile ping-pong on your phone. One audience member will also be selected to compete against a guest.
