Some of the UK's best vintage Star Wars collectibles are on show in Hampshire, with the Hampshire Cultural Trust bringing the May the Toys Be With You exhibition to both Gosport and Basingstoke from September 2017. The free exhibition is great for families, but there are plenty of older Star Wars fans that will get a kick from seeing a collection of the toys they likely grew up with.
Star Wars toys and collectibles have been an essential part of the Star Wars franchise since A New Hope was released in 1977. From action figures of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Darth Vader and Han Solo, to replicas of the Millennium Falcon, the Rebel Alliance's X-Wing fighters or AT-AT Walkers, Star Wars toys have been popular amongst children and die hard fans from the very beginning. These days the popularity of Star Wars merchandise is stronger than ever, with vintage sets reaching astronomical prices and newer lines of toys including Yoda plushies, Pop Vinyls and a range of LEGO Star Wars sets that was popular enough it's spawned its own range of console games and short films.
The toys on display as part of the exhibition will include a large collection of vintage Star Wars toys, as well as original cinema posters from the Star Wars films. It's an exhibition that is suited for both life-long Star Wars fans as well as younger fans who are newer to the franchise.
May the Your Be With You will be at The Gallery at the Gosport Discovery Centre from September 30th 2017 till January 6 2018. The Gosport Discovery Centre is about 20 miles from Southampton. From there it will move to the Willis Museum in Basingstoke where it will be on display from the 13th of January till the 14th of April 2018, which is about 30 miles north of Southampton. The exhibition has free entry. For more information visit the Hampshire Cultural Trust website or contact either of the venues. Both the Gosport Discovery Centre and the Willis Museum are managed by the Hampshire Cultural Trust.
