Marti Pellow resumes his successful 'Greatest Hits Tour' in April 2022, including a return to Birmingham's
Symphony Hall on April 27. The former Wet Wet Wet frontman unveiled his new set of hits with 16 UK shows last November – and he'll pick up where he left off with a gig at Dublin's
Bord Gais Energy Theatre on April 10, 2022. The tour concludes at
The Forum in Bath on May 5.
Marti says the tour's 'Greatest Hits' format was prompted by the Covid lockdowns imposed in the UK. During those times he posted 'Lockdown Sessions' online."
Throughout lockdown I was inundated by beautiful messages from fans asking me to please organise a tour once we came out of these terrible times," he explains, adding that he was inspired by the 12 million people that tuned into the lockdown sessions and the requests he received for songs that spanned the whole of his career."%%It was a joy to get such great feedback from everyone and it got me thinking about a greatest hits tour, where we could all enjoy those songs again and where I could enjoy singing them.
"During the sessions I also got to cover songs from other songwriters that were either favourites of mine, or had been suggested by the fans. I think they resonated with everyone so much that I'm looking forward to including some of them in the shows.%%"
He will also include tracks from his latest album,
Stargazer.
"
I finally got to write the songs that let me pay homage to all my heroes," Marti says.
