A great place to come all year round and for any ocassion

Dating back to the 18th century, this very old and unique bar based in South Shields (near Newcastle), used to be a place where smugglers used to hide their alcohol as not many knew about this hidden gem. Now this licensed bar is a beautiful place to just sit back and enjoy the views of Whitley bay and is full of colourful tales about many that used to go against the law.

Over time this extraordinary little hide-out has be developed into a two storey restaurant and bar area. Downstairs is perfect for lovely family meal and is based on your traditional pub grub and so there should be something for all. Upstairs you can hire out for specials events and is perfect for a calm view across the bay.

This is a perfect place to come for either a special occasion or a family day out; with a perfect beach that has been developed to be family friendly. Many people choose to have their wedding in this venue as it is so beautiful and such an original idea.

Why don't you have a browse at the website and see if this beautiful place takes your fancy!
