Marmosets are cute little monkeys that look like they visit the same hairdresser as Albert Einstein. Marmozets are a rock band from West Yorkshire and they'll be playing at Southampton's Engine Rooms on Saturday 3rd February at 6:30pm. Lead by singer Becca Macintyre and her powerful vocals, this will be your first chance to catch songs from Marmozets' latest album live on stage.
Marmozets will be touring the UK and Europe in February before heading to the US in March. Their newest album Knowing What You Know Now is set for release on January 26th and has already produced three great singles: Play, Habits and Major System Error. You can currently pre-order the album on the Marmozets' website, or check out their YouTube channel to hear their newest singles as they're released or to check out some of their older tracks.
Knowing What You Know Now isn't quite as heavy or manic as Marmozets' earlier releases. There's less of Becca Macintyre's screams, but her vocals are just as powerful. In Habits, she goes from fiery to almost angelic as she belts out the chorus. It might be a bit of a different direction, but it's clear the band still has a very hard rock backbone. The song gives off some definite Queens of the Stone Age vibes when the guitars first kick in, and the song and lyrics are both pretty catchy, but it's Becca's vocals that really pull the whole thing off.
Engine Rooms is the second show on Marmozets UK tour after things kick off at the Tramshed in Cardiff. Tickets are £13 plus booking fee and can be purchased online or by calling Engine Rooms on 0800 6889311. This show is 14 plus only.
