Broadway Market is a buzz on weekends with an eclectic mix of people from your East side creatives to your West side white collars. From all sides of London people come to Broadway Market for a pint, a dish and a sweet tooth cure.

Those who make it past the food stalls, that deck the entire lane way on a Saturday, may duck into a cherished little place called Market Cafe. A venue that has managed to conform to non-conformists, where pub decor meets girly floral and Italian summer all rolled into one and laid out for a cosmopolitan visual intake.

As a friend and I entered the establishment, we were seated immediately up in the dining area, a cosy bare bricked corner, within ears distance to surrounding tables. We didn't let this get us down and proceeded to look through the menu at hand.

As we were interested in a brunch type offering, we scanned the menu for a selection that would cover both savoury and sweet for our mixed palates.

We decided to go with the savoury Burrata (a fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream) with Avocado & Toast. An item that was suggested to us by our cute waiter. Second on the list was the sweet choice of Ricotta Pancakes with Winter Fruit Compote & Creme Fraiche.

As I looked around whilst waiting for our meal, I noticed that the ambiance was quite bubbly, a contrast from the exterior of the venue, which was cold and miserable (welcome to London winter). People were wrapped up in conversation and in their meals. All of which looked very appetising to our hungry eyes.

Within 8 minutes our dishes reached us and we began halving the soft pancakes and the crunchy burrata on toast. Now if you are a fan of cheese you will be quite impressed with the burrata; it is the right balance between creamy and salty, with a texture similar to an easily spreadable cottage cheese. The Market Cafe have done well in teaming this side with fresh avocado, seasoned with pepper and lemon. Absolute heaven.

Moving onto the pancakes, you can't really go wrong here. Everyone loves a buttery pancake with fresh berries, add creme fraiche and you are onto a winning combination.

It is safe to say the chefs at Market Cafe have been trained well, that saying, you can't go too wrong with the items we ordered. Considering there is always a crowd of people within the venue, it is easy to see why, good food, good company and good service are the tri-fector for a winning brunch venue.

Give Market Cafe a go, you will not be disappointed.
