The Old Joint Stock Theatre is hosting Mind's Eye, by artist Marie Wood. Her work is a collection of sculptures, drawings, oil paintings and collages. The exhibition explores a sense of place and time through colour, light, and space - or so the critics say.
Of the Sea
Her sculptures are particularly fascinating because of their abstract nature. 'Of the sea' (above), caught my attention, for it is bizarre, smooth and wonderfully provoking at the same time.
I wouldn't hang her sculptures in my living room, but Wood's work is full of curious pieces. Nonetheless, it's always nice to spend half an hour musing over the inspiration behind unusual art.

If you're a fan of what I call 3-D art, and sculptures you can mount on the wall Wood's artwork is available to buy. Or you can just marvel from a distance, as I did, in The Old Joint Stock, and leave feeling that bit more cultured, and a little relieved I won't be seeing such graphic sculptures every day.
