Finally, after what seems like months of watching everyone else celebrating LGBTQ pride, it's time to count down to ours.
Manchester Pride takes up the entire August bank holiday weekend (24th-27th), even overspilling with related events before and after the big weekend. This year is rumoured to be one of the best yet. The years of over-commercialisation around Canal Street and other areas of Manchester's 'Gay Village' are cooling down and the city's LGBTQ communities are ready to celebrate.
If you've never been to Manchester Pride, I can't encourage it enough. Although it goes on all weekend, with different events, acts (and much more!) each day, it's better to get your ticket on the Friday. Saturday is always the busiest day, with special guests and celebrity performances and it is rammed everywhere, including the ticketing booth. The parade is high-intensity chaos that you can't tear your eyes away from. It's a must-see. Each event that pops up throughout the bank holiday weekend will have something to offer you. Go with friends, go with family, take your kids! Whoever you go with, know you'll be welcomed with open arms by an amazing community of people and feel right at home. It's a fantastic fun-filled weekend for you all to enjoy and even get involved in if you fancy it.
Fingers crossed for the weather.
