Over 50 million people have flocked to see the story of MAMMA MIA which sees a young girl attempt to discover the identity of her real father on the eve of her wedding. With a choice of three men from her mother's past, this is a story which explores the feelings of nostalgia, friendship and above all else love! With a soundtrack from the legendary ABBA, this musical has been hailed the most feel-good show by critics and audiences alike.
Showing at the Prince of Wales theatre in the bustling Piccadilly Circus area of London, why not treat yourself to a meal out beforehand. The show itself is a visual spectacle. The set is designed to mimic a Grecian island paradise (Kalokairi to be more specific) and the light and vivid colour of the set and costumes immediately sets the fun tone of the show. You will find yourself singing along to each of the songs, however big an ABBA fan you are and there are more than a few laugh out loud moments. All the classics are in there from The Winner Takes It All to Knowing Me Knowing You and of course Dancing Queen.
Perhaps the best part of the show was the finale, where an ABBA medley is performed with great gusto by the cast and the audience are encouraged to get involved and get up out of their seats and dance. Warning- some serious dad dancing can occur at this point!
Although prices for the musical are relatively high, this is a show which is the ultimate treat to invest in. This is show has all the main ingredients perfectly mixed together- a rich storyline, excellent acting and above all else, fantastic music to put you in a wonderful mood.
So if you want some escapism and fancy prancing around to some ABBA music for an hour or two, then this is the musical for you!
