Inside the bandstand building found on the sea-front of Herne Bay is a wonderful Italian place that serves coffee, ice-cream, cakes and sandwiches. The lovely old traditional building has lots of character, and there are plenty of outside seats on the back patio for when the weather is warm.



Italian Coffee and Ice Cream by The Sea

Being on the promenade along the back of Herne Bay beach, Makcaris has a perfect location. It's open all year round and an ideal place to stop for a coffee in the winter or for ice cream in the summer. It's also handy for meeting up with a friend. My favourite thing on the menu is the waffles. The helpings are huge and they come with a choice of toppings such as chocolate sauce, cream and the ice cream favour of your choosing. Just order them the way you want them and they are served nice and warm.



The staff here are very friendly and helpful and will go out of their way to please you. The interior is very spacious with lots of tables and room for buggies and wheelchairs. If you're dining in, you order at the counter and the food and drinks are brought to your table. For takeaway ice cream, there is a separate counter.



Opening times for Makcaris

Opening hours in summer are:

Mon – Thu 09:00 – 20:00
Fri – Sun 09:00 – 21:00

In winter the opening hours are:

Mon – Thu 09:00 – 18:00
Fri – Sun 09:00 – 19:00

Along with coffees and ice cream, there is a small menu of sandwiches, cake, panini and some specials such as soup of the day.

Along the seafront are parking bays and car parks.
