Last night my family and I went out to celebrate my birthday. Mae Ping is our favourite restaurant to go to, and as usual we had a wonderful time. The staff, however, were not quite as on the ball as usual. As one of our starters, we ordered prawn tempura for £5.50, but we were surprised to find that our battered prawns actually turned out to be vegetables. It turns out that they actually served us their seasonal vegetable tempura (which is 25p cheaper, although on the receipt we were still charged for the prawn dish).
Although not what we were expecting, it was still very nice. The tempura batter was exquisitely light, and was complimented with a beautiful tamarind chilli sauce. The vegetables will change depending on what season it is, but we got courgettes, red peppers, onions rings, and what we thought was a carrot turned out to be a fruit mango.
