I've always thought beauty comes from within, so I try to nourish my body and live a healthy lifestyle. Sometimes, however it's not enough, with the daily stresses, no matter how fit and healthy you are, you can tend to look like a bit of a bag lady. In a bid to salvage my sometimes haggard looks I went to newly opened Ma Belle Beautique beauty salon in Wednesbury.
Ma Belle Beautique is on the High Street, but blink and you'll miss it. The salon doesn't have a shop front - it's located one level above ground – so it's accessed via a narrow staircase. As you ascend the stairs the shop opens up to a small, but well-formed beauty salon that is rather quaint.
In this females-only salon, they offer a plethora of beauty treatments for the beauty conscious lady. I say beauty conscious, but we all like to be pampered, even if it's just a manicure.
For the those who like a golden glow they currently offer vertical sun beds and spray tanning; manicure and pedicure treatments (design, gel, and extension); , but what sets it apart is that they offer non-invasive surgery procedures, namely botox. I don't think I'd consider something like botox but as I sat waiting for my beautician to take me to the waxing room I did see a woman emerge from a treatment room looking a little pricked, a little red, but surprisingly smooth. Their botox and fillers start from £95 and rise to £300.
It is a very professional environment, and the services on offer seem endless. Holistic massages really hit the spot. As I visited with my mother, who was in dire need of a deep massage she opted for the Back, Neck and Shoulder massage, which is where all of her tension lay. Post-treatmentI don't think I've ever seen her so relaxed; my mother's shoulders were down, and she seemed to float out of the treatment room once her 30 minutes were up.
The Back, Neck and Shoulder massage costs £16, and for half an hour of top quality treatment, you really can't get better. The quality of service provided is fantastic for the price, so it really pays to check out the local area before resigning yourself to celebrated salons in the city centre.
Their nail treatments sounded pretty good, and I'm always partial to a pretty set of talons.
As great as the massage was, and all the other treatments sounded, I only opted for a full leg wax, because it is such an effort to do it myself. To remove the hair from my thighs and calves it cost £15. The whole treatment took 15 minutes, which I thought was great, I did however, want a bikini wax. Unfortunately their bikini waxing extends as far as bikini line - they draw the line at the 'Hollywood' and 'Brazilian', which is what I wanted (complete hair removal).
Even though I was a little disappointed by their limited waxing offerings I'd definitely go back for their more indulgent treatments like their facials, which start from £14 (Express Facial). Like I've said, a little pampering can go a long way and judging by my mother's expression, and entire disposition for the rest of the evening, a massage wouldn't go amiss too.
