To paraphrase Dorothy: 'There is no place like London.' I hope I can convince you of that here. Also check out my blog at damselwithadulcimer.wordpress.com and my theatre reviews at www.playstosee.com
Backyard Cinema is not in a yard but above a restaurant
Backyard Cinema was devised following an uninspiring trip to the cinema. It promises to make film going a far more enjoyable experience: comfortable seating, quality food and snacks and inspiring drinks. Above all the films will be an eclectic mix of classics, shorts and themed evenings.
Following on from its launch in a back garden last year, Backyard Cinema returns to an indoor location in Bethnal Green this spring. So far three films are scheduled for screening on alternate Wednesdays, starting on 20 February. Beach Blanket Babylon, a former Victorian warehouse on Bethnal Green Road, is now a restaurant and cocktail bar where you can spoil yourself, before going up to the screening area for even more self indulgence.

Once upstairs you can snuggle up on a sofa with your date or friends, cocktail in one hand and fresh popcorn in the other, and enjoy the film of the evening, projected onto a 12 foot screen with surround sound audio. It sounds like home from home to me. Who needs an impersonal multiplex? If you're not convinced, just check out the verdicts delivered by a few satisfied cinemagoers.
