If your postcode starts with LS6 then you probably should know where the Hyde Park corner is, or at least have heard about it. Well, even if you still haven't, now there is a good reason to find out more about it – simply because there is a cute café called
LS6 tucked precisely "in" the Hyde Park corner.
Situated on the famous Headingley lane, not far from the skate ramp-side of the Woodhouse Moor, this fresh place could take many functions – from a brunch spot, a milkshake bar, a slow-food restaurant, or an Otley Run-start point. The brightly-coloured tables at its doorsteps, and the exuberant flowerpots hanging over its entrance are a preface to a brightly-coloured interior, decorated with a huge amount of clocks and quirky semi-realistic women portraits. This may appear too odd at first but soon everything melts into a smooth tonality of retro music and pinkish easy atmosphere.
My choice from the LS6 menu was quite dull for an early Saturday evening – I had a chocolate fudge cake for £4.50 which was a bit dry but still a good company for my cup of tea. The place offers also a good range of loose-leaf tea for £2.70, one of which is Greek Camomile.
As I understood from the friend I was with LS6 is famous for its nice wraps and burgers. It turned out to be a "Runner up in the Observer food monthly awards" as well. Actually there you could see the reason why; presented in a few mouth-watering pictures. One of them is of the classic knickerbockerglory – something like the superman of the deserts, which you could get for the "decent" amount of £4.50.
Here is just a remark: yes – the staff was friendly, but not excessively, and a bit too slow. Even though it was not one of their busiest times, I still had to wait for some time to order, and even go to the bar and remind of my existence.
Except for this, the bar itself is a very pleasant spot on Headingley lane which is worth visiting with friends or on your own. It works every day from 09:00 until 23:00 except for Sundays when the last drinks should be ordered no later than 22:30. There is a free wi-fi access so you could simply enjoy a cup of Italian Mamma Lucia coffee, or a pint of a world famous beer while browsing on your smart device.
So café, bar, or restaurant – whatever you need, LS6 is there, just around the corner.
