If you're wandering around Manchester and have a fancy for art, you're in luck because The Lowry has the biggest stash of LS Lowry's masterpieces this side of the universe. You can marvel at a whole heap of his paintings and drawings, with plenty of gems on loan from private collectors who are clearly very generous with their treasures. It's like an art show-and-tell but with more talent and fewer awkward silences.

Feeling chatty? Join the friendly gallery interpreters for a free tour that'll run daily at noon and 2pm. They'll regale you with tales from Lowry's life and work, plus dish on the latest additions to the collection. Each tour runs for about 20 minutes, so you'll have plenty of time left to sip on a cuppa and ponder whether your own stick figures could manage to be considered art.
