A Marvellous Playground of Wonders and Curiosities
Roll up, roll up, the London Wonderground Festival is here. Well nearly anyway. The spectacular show of carnival and circus acts is due to arrive at the Southbank Centre on the 6th May and will be sticking around until 29th September. The event will be hosting a long line-up of shows such as a variety night at the Speigeltent, which will include cabaret, sideshows, and music. There will also be weekly Friday Night Freakshows, which are reminiscent of Victorian era travelling sideshow acts, starring EastEnd Cabaret duo, Bernadette Byrne and the faux-haemaphrodite Victor Victoria.
Frisky & Mannish are another longstanding duo, but instead of reclaiming the freakish nature of the past, they are here to give us an education on the freaky pop culture we have today. They will be giving three different classes: The College Years, Pop Centre Plus, and The School of Pop.
Witness heart-stopping illusions, gravity-defying manoeuvres, and explosions of hybrid dance with a performance from Limbo, some sexy burlesque, and for pub-goers, make a trip to the circus-style Saloon for a night with Al Murray.
