You cannot escape it, whether you are excited about the Royal Wedding, or you couldn't care less, it is on everyone's minds as the day draws closer and closer.
In honour of the celebrations, the
Southbank Centre is presenting a weekend of activities under the guise of '
London in Love '. They guarantee there is something for everyone, whether you are head over heels or completely heartbroken.
Starting on the 29th by broadcasting the Royal w edding, there will be music, art, poetry and workshops all based around the concept of love. Whether you fancy announcing your undying love for your childhood sweetheart or just writing a poem for your Gran, the events cater for all, from totally romantic music, to completely tongue in cheek sillyness.
A Little Wedding Music
To coincide with the Southbank's Festival of Britain, there will be an array of musical performances taking place through out the day of the wedding. On the 29th if you fancy escaping the hustle and bustle of London's streets, everything from harpists through to string quartets will be setting up home in the Southbank centre. Designed to make your heart flutter in all the right ways. From 1- 4.00 pm.
Wedding Party Workshops
Whether you are preparing for the best day of your life, or you are sick of being told you dance like your dad, these workshops will help you put your best foot forward. Covering all the basics of dancing for two, you will be ready to impress the girl or guy of your dreams. Whether or not they are the one you marry is entirely optional. Workshop sessions will run at 12pm and 1pm over the weekend. Followed by three hours of wedding party 'tunes' so you can try out your moves on the dance floor.
Today I love....
Now for some positive, romantic thinking!
Today I love... is designed to help you focus on the positives in your relationship, rather than who didn't do the washing up. Artists and poets will be on hand to help you get creative and are interested to hear your stories and make them into works of art. Don't worry if you don't have a romantic bone in your body, you are very welcome to come along and make a postcard designed especially for your Mum.
The majority of the events are free and designed so you can drop in and out of them. There are also chances to for you to add your own wedding experiences, poems and anecdotes. As well as various other types of entertainment over the weekend.
