As a little relief from the dreary post-Christmas days of January you might want to visit the fifth London Ice Sculpting Festival . This returns to Canary and Wood Wharfs for another three days in the middle of the month in a completely interactive range of events. Beyond watching the twelve teams of international experts carving their creations from ice, there will be opportunities for budding sculptors to participate in master classes. For those of a slightly less creative bent, you (and your kids) will be able to give vent to your inner graffiti artists on a special Ice Wall, let off steam in the Snow Pit or play at Ice Chess. And for shopaholics (who haven't spent everything for Christmas) there will also be an alpine themed Winter Market.

Here are a few memories of last year's festival for Winter Sports:

So dig out your thermals, hats, scarves and gloves and head down to Docklands for some fun.
