We city dwellers all need a little bit of exercise, if we're absolutely honest. So many temptations around - patisseries, cafes, restaurants...it can all easily build up around the midriff.

However, a lot of us would not be tempted to pound the streets on a drizzling, cold winter day with just our mp3 player for company. So here's an alternative - London Fields Lido

A lido is an outside heated pool, and this one, located in the heart of Hackney, is also based inside a rather attractive park, London Fields Park. What more could you want?

The pool is a generously-sized 50 metres, and is available to non-members for £4.50 per session. Be aware that the pool will close earlier in winter months due to the darker evenings.

Check the session which is suitable for you, then enjoy your time in a rather nice Olympic-sized swimming pool in a rather nice park, while thanking the people of Hackney for campaigning to restore this once-derelict outdoor swimming complex back to better than its original glory. Better than going for yet another jog around your local park, don't you think?
