Debit cards at the ready ladies. London Fashion Weekend is right around the corner. While London Fashion Week remains exclusive, entertaining only those in the fashion industry and a select few that are able to talk their way in, London Fashion Weekend is open to the public. Once the models for the last Spring/Summer 2013 show teeter off the runway, Somerset House is given a sprucing, ready for the largest designer shopping event in London.
A welcome alternative to the hum of the high street, Somerset House is the perfect setting for a weekend of retail therapy. This isn't any old shopping trip – this is an event. An intoxicating cocktail of over 100 British and International brands, including Jaeger London, Pringle of Scotland and Rigby and Peller, London Fashion Weekend is likely to inebriate. Added to the mix are established designers Aqua, Antipodium, Yes Master and Jas MB and new talent including London Fashion Week starlet Holly Fulton. Sip on a mojito while you shop and this could actually be the stuff that dreams are made of.
Vintage clothing, accessories and jewellery will also be available at The Vintage Boutique. Choose from a selection of items provided by London's best vintage sellers and be entertained while you do so. Vintage acts have been asked to play at the event, adding to the overall experience. Think red lipped sirens with pin curled locks knocking out 1950s classics. What sound could better accompany twirling in the mirror in a vintage fur? You have to get a feel for it after all.
Beginning to feel shopped out? Try a mini spa treatment at the pop-up spa shop or head to the Lash bar for a preening. Oh, and Fashion Weekend wouldn't be Fashion Weekend without a catwalk or two. Arbiters of fashion Hilary Alexander, Caroline Flack and Zoe Hardman will be presenting the catwalk shows this time around.
Vodafone London Fashion Weekend may not be the main event but with the option to shop, drink cocktails and enjoy beauty treatments, it's looking preferable.
