London celebrates it's fantastic fashion
Preparations have been under way for months and months, designers have forgotten what sleep is and the city of London is buzzing with excitement. Yes, London Fashion Week is nearly here!
Friday 14th until Tues 18th September sees all your favourite designers and more showcase their most current collections for the world to see in the thriving fashion capital of London. From your designer favourites including Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson and Nicole Farhi, to the new and hugely promising designers such as Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pilotto and Jonathon Saunders, this is the top fashion event of the year in London and the best way to celebrate British fashion.
Based at the magnificent setting of Somerset House, Fashion Week is the ultimate glamorous event. Celebrities flock to the site to attend catwalk shows, view presentations and take in exhibitions. Among the exhibitions is Estethica, an initiative of the BFC (British Fashion Council). Sponsored by fashion brand Monsoon this exhibition showcases cutting-edge designers' work which has been produced in a sustainable and ethically-friendly way and which also displays excellent craftsmanship. This exhibition aims to show how the fashion industry is constantly striving to improve the ways in which it works.
The NEWGEN scheme also displays the promising future of fashion by showcasing the best of young talent out there. Sponsored by high street favourite Topshop, the scheme offers financial support and mentoring from successful designers to new designers. The exhibition at London Fashion Week is a perfect way of getting these designers out for you and the world to see.
If fashion is your thing then this really is the event to attend and if you're lucky enough to be able to go to London Fashion Week then you will not be disappointed! If you are unable to make the event then fear not- the official website is on hand to help with fashion updates by the minute and videos from all the catwalk shows, interviews and presentations.
