Are you tough enough to take part in the London-2-Brighton Challenge? The 100km charity run taking place over the 25th and 26th of May 2013 will be a gruelling marathon, but one well worth it. Not only will you be raising money for the Hunger Project, but just think how proud you'll feel once you cross the finish line.
The race will start at Richmond-Upon-Thames and finish at Brighton coast. Because it is such a long distance, around a 15 hour trip on foot, you'll probably walk the journey rather than run unless you're really hardcore or take part in marathons regularly. If you are a marathon fanatic, then the London 2 Brighton Challenge is a great opportunity, because it is also considered the qualifying race for The North Face Du Mont Blanc Ultra Marathon in 2014.
It costs £85 to sign up, and you are expected to raise £400 to take part. That's no small order, but the funds raised will be crucial to 'Team Hunger' in their efforts to bring an end to world hunger. The money will be used to provide families with seeds, fertiliser, and tools to grow their own crops, and it will also go towards bringing school meals to children.
The London 2 Brighton Challenge is the ultimate endurance test and while it may be hard, there will be nothing quite so fulfilling. Why not boost your motivation by building up a team with your friends and family? The power of teamwork and positive thinking can make the long slog a little easier. Whether you do it with friends or go it alone, the Team Hunger staff will be there to support you with designated resting points, and refreshments to boost those energy levels.
Once you get to Brighton, what better way is there to celebrate than a well deserved pat on the back, and fish and chips? Or maybe just falling flat on the beach.
