Every Tuesday night, the Momo North African restaurant just off Regent Street plays host to both well-known and up-and-coming musicians from all over the world. Past guests have included Emmanuel Jal, Yasmin Levy and the Bedouin Jerry Can Band, and the night's appeal to big names shows no signs of waning.
It all happens in the Moorish-styled surroundings of the Momo kemia bar, where the audience sips expensive but exquisite cocktails, including the restaurant's own Momo Special. Light bites are available in the form of kemia (essentially North African tapas), while those who want to make a full night of it will find an array of North African and Mediterranean food on offer in the main restaurant. The diverse crowd and the eponymous owner's dedication to ambience and authenticity make this one of the most atmospheric venues in London.
Live at Momo is organised by Enchanted Tunes, who also manage acts for Annabel's, Prada Congo Club and the Shepherd's Bush Festival, and who have made the night a legend on the London world music scene . Videos and recordings of past performers are available on their MySpace page.
Doors open at 7pm, with music starting around 9pm. Entry is free and there is no guest list.
