Aussie duo bring Inappropriate Behaviour to Britain
Australian duo Lime Cordiale arrive in the UK for the first time, just as the temperature is rising to boiling point – the perfect backdrop to their summery indie pop. They play Birmingham's O2 Academy on July 31, part of a European tour that has so far seen them visit Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Spain.
Lime Cordiale are brothers Oli and Louis Leimbach, from Northern Beaches, Sydney. Debut album, Permanent Vacation, was released in 2017 and created quite a stir Down Under.
During the Australasian summer, they played 42 sold-out shows in Australia and New Zealand and attracted more than 5,000 fans to their own The Squeeze Festival in June 2019. They have toured home soil with the likes of Tash Sultana, Ocean Alley and Primal Scream, as well as performing at festivals like Lost Paradise, Bluesfest and Groovin' the Moo.
They also aim to make positive changes for the environment. When touring, they ask for no plastic backstage and no food on their rider that includes any plastic, explaining that a small difference is still a difference. The pair also choose never to buy new clothes and insist on only buying second-hand items.
During the UK tour they'll be promoting latest single, Inappropriate Behaviour. "The song feels really nostalgic to us," says Oli. "Something that we would've listened to as teenagers in high school or at a house party. The horns in the chorus ended up giving it a bit of a ska feel and it's something you want to blast out of your Toyota car speakers in a beach car park somewhere."
