Coming together to remember loved ones
Families in Birmingham are being invited to join in John Taylor Hospice's annual Light up a Life celebration. Taking place at Hollyfields Centre in Erdington on Sunday 9 December, John Taylor Hospice's Light up a Life lasts roughly half an hour and features readings, songs performed by local choir Vivat! and some time for reflection in which a tree filled with lights is illuminated.
Light up a Life also offers the opportunity for people to dedicate a light to someone they love. In exchange for a donation, the hospice will send supporters a personalised commemorative card and a star to hang at home as a special reminder. Dedications will also be shared in the Book of Lights which will be on display at this year's Light up a Life event.
John Taylor Hospice Community and Events Fundraising Manager Emily Boate said: "Light up a Life is a chance for everyone to come together to celebrate the lives of people they love. The family-friendly event brings together people of all ages for music and reflection at this very special time of year. Light up a Life is open to everyone - we would love to see people who simply want to come along and celebrate their loved ones alongside families who have experienced our care."
The event at Hollyfields Centre in Woodacre Road, Erdington, B24 0JT begins at 6pm and largely takes place outside so people are advised to dress up warm. Refreshments are available. For more information seehttps://www.johntaylorhospice.org.uk/get-involved/join-an-event/310-light-up-a-life
