Live theatre is back in Staffordshire and the Lichfield Garrick is ready to welcome back audiences with a packed programme of entertainment. In keeping with theatres across the country, the Lichfield Garrick was forced to close for more than a year due to the coronavirus pandemic which sent the UK into national lockdown. But that has happily now ended with indoor entertainment venues including theatres and cinemas able to reopen from May 17 as part of the Government's roadmap towards normality. As a result, the Garrick is now finally able to welcome back patrons and performers with the likes of Suggs, Kevin Quantum, Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote, Judy & Liza: The Musical and Freddy the Teddy among the shows lined up. The live entertainment resumes on May 20 with comedy show, A Black Country Night Out.

Karen Foster, the Garrick's Chief Executive, said, "After a most unusual year, we look forward to welcoming patrons back to the theatre, bringing the very best of comedy, music and drama, right here in your local theatre. Our heartfelt thanks go to those performers, staff members and funders who have supported us in our endeavours to re-open and to bring joy back to the stage." Shows cancelled during 2020 due to Covid-19 have been rescheduled for this year. Fan favourites such as The Fizz, Tony Christie and former Madness frontman Suggs are among those with new dates. Many of the rescheduled shows now have tickets available, so people who missed out on tickets the first time, now have a chance to buy.

In addition, new shows have been added to the programme for the rest of 2021. They include talented magician Kevin Quantum who returns this summer with a socially distanced magic show that promises to be like no other. Comedy fans will be delighted by the return of The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre, which sees the world's funniest footwear turn up at the Garrick's studio theatre. By contrast, TV Historian Lucy Worsley delivers two performances in one day to tell audiences about a& #8239 ;Very British Murder& #8239 ;and& #8239 ;If Walls Could Talk. Information about all forthcoming shows at the Garrick can be found on the theatre website . Tickets can also be booked by phoning the box office on 01543 412121 on Fridays between 11am and 1pm. The theatre says all appropriate safety measures are in place to welcome back audiences, details of which can be found here .
