Four decades after the release of their first single, Level 42 are still going strong, performing live to audiences around the world - and now they are heading back to Birmingham.
Level 42 will be performing at
Symphony Hall in Birmingham on Tuesday October 20 as part of their From Eternity To Here tour.
Hipsway will also be special guests at the concert, which marks Level 42's 40th anniversary since single
Love Meeting Love was recorded and released in 1980.
The band soared to fame in the 1980s with British jazz-funk hits from
Something About You to
Lessons In Love and
Running In The Family, but disbanded in 1994.
Since reforming in 2001,
Level 42 have been popular on the festival circuit, playing 20 festivals last year worldwide including in Canada, Russia, Denmark and Germany.
Bassist and frontman Mark King said: "
Touring with the band this year has been about as much fun as I can remember having had on the road."
"
If you had asked me back in 1980 if I thought we would be selling out theatres around the world when I was sixty years old, I probably would have laughed," added Mark."
Hand on heart, this year has been amazing. Reinvention can be a wonderful thing."
Alongside Mark will be fellow bandmates Mike Lindup on keyboard, guitarist Nathan King, Sean Freeman on sax, Dan Carpenter playing the trumpet, Nichol Thomson on trombone and drummer Pete Ray Biggin.
Level 42 have quite the music back catalogue with 14 studio albums, seven live albums, the Sirens' EP, and six compilation albums along with 18 top 40 singles to their name.
They have sold over 30 million albums worldwide over four decades.
