Whenever I'm anywhere within a three-mile radius of The Strand, I find myself being irresistibly pulled towards a certain restaurant: Leon.
In fact, Leon now has ten branches in London (and one in Kent) - and it's not difficult to see why it's so popular. What it delivers is simply conclusive proof that food can be fast without compromising at all on nutrition, ethical sourcing or of course flavour.
Careful sourcing and dedication to improving sustainability have earned Leon recognition from the RSPCA and the Sustainable Restaurant Association. Recipes are based around fresh seasonal ingredients and naturally low-GI foods, so you get plenty of energy without too much of the bad stuff.
So, consciences firmly at rest, what's actually on offer? The menu includes hot wraps, soups, curries and salads, available to eat in or in take-out 'hot boxes'. There are also yummy cakes, fresh juices and seasonal specials. The restaurants are decorated in a kind of hippy-diner style, with a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere (the store loyalty card includes a free kiss at the halfway point).
And at the same price and speed as a McDonald's, there's really no excuse not to do right by your body, your taste buds, and the environment.
