Launched in May this year, after two years of wishful thinking, scheming, plotting and planning from a collective of local musicians, has become a welcome addition to the continually enhancing state of Leeds' thriving music scene.

So what is Leeds Music Hub? Funded by UnLtd, Leeds City Council and Leeds University, It is essentially a 'hub' for Leeds' music community; a focal point, and a haven for muso's and music lovers alike who want to immerse themselves in local music via drop-in sessions that are available to the public five days a week.

The Hub includes a café and social area; a shop to buy CD's from local bands, merchandise, gig tickets and magazines/fanzines. It also contains three teaching rooms for instrumental and vocal tuition from local musicians; and a workshop area for seminars, in which a series of music industry talks will take place, ranging from the importance of film in establishing an artist to band finances and music law.



The Hub also runs exhibitions that showcase local artwork and music posters, as well as acoustic sets and in-store performances. Endearingly, the hub also pays homage to Leeds' musical history with a local music archive containing ever-expanding items currently stretching back to the early 90's.

Leeds Music Hub also plays host to a number of music-related activities such as Katie Harkin's (former member of Leeds band Sky Larkin) monthly record club where you can expect to partake of some "music chat, coffee, cake and mixtapes" based on a specified theme. Past themes have been soundtracks, duos and duets, and live albums, as well as music film screenings of some of the best independent music documentaries around.



Not only does provide a unique, fresh and exciting experience for the music contingent of Leeds, but it is the supplier of some very tasty, homemade cakes and treats freshly baked every day.

So whether you're a music fan looking for a tangible daytime presence, or you're simply intrigued by the concept, you'll always be welcomed with obliging, open arms.
