Le Truc – Southside's quirky French-style bistro – is celebrating its first birthday and you're invited. Nestled firmly in the place of former restaurant Milano's, in The Arcadian, Le Truc has been making waves this past year, having provided a Parisian twist most recently at the BYY Underground Streetfood party, and the Future Foodies event. But instead of representing in other venues, they're at home in their own environment, and are planning a bank holiday birthday bonanza.
There will be live entertainment provided by the staff, which will certainly be interesting. If you've had the pleasure of meeting the staff at Le Truc you'll know this will be a downright giggle. The staff are a happy bunch – especially their sous chef, and a certain waitress who is always happy to chat…about the food, what's on the menu, or if she thinks it's going to rain.
They're one of the independent clusters of businesses of Birmingham city centre and thus champion a more organic experience. So, if the entertainment is somewhat unusual don't be surprised; Le Truc certainly don't go by the book – they make their own rules.
It's rarely a celebration without a cheeky tipple, or maybe quite a few, so feel free to indulge in their yummy list of cocktails. I've tried 'Absinthe Minded Martini' (gin, cointreau, absinthe, dry vermouth), a few too many times, but they're also great to share. Soft drinks start from £2.00, and the cocktails begin at £6.00. Food starts from £5.50, but with drinking and laughing taking the stage of the birthday bonanza you might be too distracted to eat. Let the celebrations begin.
