Ozzy Osbourne , Gene Simmons from
Kiss and
Laurel & Hardy are the stars of a Halloween film fest at
Stourbridge Town Hall on October 29, 2022.
The fun begins at 2.30pm with the screening of the family-friendly
Laurel & Hardy Are Spooked!, three classic black and white comedies in which Stan and Ollie find themselves in ghostly circumstances:
Habeas Corpus, The Laurel & Hardy Murder Mystery(pictured below) and
The Live Ghost. Tickets are £8.50 and £5.50.
Then it's adults only for the main event at 7.30pm – a rare showing of the cult 1986 horror/comedy,
Trick or Treat (18), featuring Ozzy and Gene Simmons.
Perfectly exploiting the '80s fear of metal acts burying subliminal Satanic messages in their music,
Trick or Treat finds bullied teen Eddie (Marc Price) devastated to hear of the sudden death of his idol, infamous heavy metal star Sammi Curr (Tony Fields). But when he's given a copy of Sammi's final unreleased recordings by radio DJ Nuke (played by Kiss's Gene Simmons), Eddie soon discovers that Sammi is preparing for the ultimate Halloween comeback... from beyond the grave.
Ozzy Osbourne, whose latest album,
Patient Number 9, is currently riding high in the charts, features as a deranged TV evangelist decrying the evils of heavy metal.
Trick or Treat also boasts a suitably rockin' soundtrack from Brit metal outfit
Fastway (aka Motörhead guitarist 'Fast' Eddie Clarke and future Flogging Molly vocalist, Dave King).
Written by Rhet Topham (
Freddy's Nightmares) and
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure's Michael S. Murphey and Joel Soisson,
Trick or Treat is a head bangin' Halloween treat every bit as enjoyable as other teen comedies of the period. The one-off screening will be preceded, from 6.45pm, by a set of '80s rock classics to ensure the audience is in the right mood for the movie. Tickets are £7.50.

Halloween Film Bash is a
