Take a trip to South London and head to Lamberts in Balham, a modern British restaurant that prides itself on its truly excellent food, fabulous service in a stylish yet relaxed atmosphere. This place doesn't yet have a Michelin start, but it definitely should.

The menu is constantly changing which is great as it enables you to keep going back for more and always try something new. Lamberts put their menus online here and have offers of two courses for 25 and three courses for 30.



The food is always presented beautifully. When I went, the highlight for me was the amazingly cooked 32 day aged rump steak teamed with dauphinoise potatoes. It more than filled me up, but it was that delicious; I think I could have eaten the whole thing again. I only went for 2 courses this time so I didn't try a starter, but I did feast on their delicious fresh bread and olive oil; a perfect starter to any meal in my eyes. After I had devoured my steak I moved onto dessert, a delicious chocolate tart, that came beautiful presented and was seriously tasty.

I also tried out a champagne cocktail (10 each but definitely worth it as it was expertly mixed and a great way to start a meal).

Lamberts use mostly local suppliers, many of them small family firms, and endeavour to use only the finest ingredients including organic. The majority of their meat comes direct from the farm and all is ethically produced where possible. Lambert's also champion British produce and their regularly changing menus reflect the seasons in the UK.

Lamberts is set in a boutique spot just 2 minutes walk from Balham station and food is served 6 days a week.



Lunch is served on Saturday from 12pm - 3pm and on Sunday they do a great roast between 12pm and 5pm. Dinner is available Tuesday - Saturday 7pm, - 10:30pm. The decor of Lamberts is in keeping with the understated elegance of the food classy and attractive, but refreshingly unpretentious, but it's all about the high quality food in Lamberts. Definitely take a trip to this hidden gem, you won't regret it.
