Recently on our travels in the southern Mallee region of Victoria, we stopped by a town called Hopetoun which was about 400kms northwest of Melbourne along the Henty Highway,



Looking for a place to rest after a long drive, we found a most serene lake only about 500 meters from the town centre. Called , it offers the weary travellers a most peaceful place to take a break and enjoy the beautiful and scenic views.



The lake according to the locals is their town's hidden treasure and a mecca for walkers, swimmers, boating enthusiasts and fishermen. There are walking trails around the lake and dedicated safe areas for swimmers making the lake a complete family enjoyment spot.



Around the lake are well maintained spacious lush lawns with picnic tables and chairs. There are also big shaded BBQ areas, toilet facilities and even free camping areas.



After a refreshing break, walking around the lake and enjoying the view we continued on our journey.
