There's a surprise in the basement

Say you want to go clothes shopping - there are lots of choices, right? Too many probably - and all of them have their own valid reasons for going there.

I am going to tell you about a place now just because its way of promoting itself appeals to my sensibilities - let me tell you about it.

I went to Lacoste - a well known brand for sure - and seeing the shop and all of is colourful merchandise was certainly appealing, though it wasn't for this reason that I decided to visit.

The reason I wanted to tell you about it, and the reason I think it is worth visiting, is for this simple reason - the alligator that inhabits the basement. Ok, it isn't a real one (that would be too much), but the concrete sculpture and foliage, along with the warning sign are not exactly what you would expect from a store on a pleasant street in Marylebone.

Feel free to go along for the clothes, after all Lacoste is famous for them, and having stores in many, many locations around the world tells you all you need to know about what people think of them...

As for me, I think you should go along to see their 'pet', and enjoy a quirky side to a famous store - after all if it made me smile, I'm pretty sure there are people out there who it might make smile too.

Oh, and by the way, please pay attention to the sign - after all a concrete alligator certainly doesn't need feeding...
