Kentish Town City Farm

Home > London > Fun for Children
Published July 1st 2010
Old MacDonald's not the only one with a farm. Kentish Town has one too.

This popular city farm began in 1972 as a recreational and educational project.

It's a farm, not a zoo for farm animals, so children and adults alike are encouraged to get hands-on, helping with tasks like mucking out and feeding - so be sure not to wear your Sunday best when you go along.

All your farmyard regulars are there: clucking chickens, quacking ducks and geese, mooing cows, oinking pigs, baaing sheep, neighing horses, and...goats (actually, what sound do goats make?).

The four-and-a-half acre farm incorporates a classroom, an activity room for children under five, a kitchen, stables and gardens.

On weekend afternoons the farm offers pony rides, and for a reasonable fee the entire place can be hired out for a few hours for children's birthday parties.

Entry to the farm is free though the organisers very much welcome donations (you'll see a postbox at the farm), as without theae the farm may not be able to continue its valuable work.

Kentish Town City Farm is, as you'd imagine, a big hit with children, and provides both a fun and educational experience without having to make a trek out of the city.

Oh and news just in - goats bleat.
