Films are shown in all sorts of places these days. Aside from your typical movie theatre, films are shown in parks, on rooftops, and floating on water. Out of all the possible venues, however, a hairdresser's did not make it anywhere onto my list. But that only goes to show that there are people out there far more imaginative than me.
Kaleidiscope Cinema was created by a group of film lovers who want to get the most of of their film-going experience. The answer? Combine great movies with unique and wonderfully immersive screening locations.
Well, when it comes to great movies, you can place Quentin Tarantino's classic crime thriller,
Pulp Fiction right up there. Released in 1994, the clever non-linear narrative weaves the lives of seemingly unrelated characters together through a series of violent, humorous, and criminal events.
So you've got the film. How about the venue? Let's try Pimps & Pinups. The retro hair salon is the perfect setting for a 'pulp' neo-noir film. With 1950s Hollywood mirrors and dazzling lights, you'll feel like you've travelled back in time.
Now comes the food. Everyone likes popcorn when they go to the cinema, and we like it even more when it is free. Kaleidoscope will also be serving All Star Lanes mini royal cheese burgers, milkshakes, and special cocktails inspired by the
Pulp Fiction characters.
The only thing left is the date: 8th February, 7.30pm, £15.
