Juergen Teller is considered one of his generation's most important photographers. Born in Germany, he has a special talent for merging artistic and commercial photography - something few others have managed to do. His success in this field probably stems from his background as a record cover photographer. A key point in his career was when he did a photoshoot for Sinéad O'Connor's Nothing Compares 2 You single.
In his latest exhibition, Woo, which will be held at The Institute of Contemporary Arts, between the 23rd January - 17th March. Teller will take on a journey through the landmark fashion and photography he created in the 1990s. On display will be a presentation of celebrities such as Lily Cole, Kate Moss, and Vivienne Westwood, as well as more recent landscapes and family portraits. Also on display will be work from his controversial weekly column that was published in Die Zeit magazine.
Teller's photography subverts the conventional relationship between artist and model. Every picture tells a story, and has a striking emotional intensity, which he achieves through some surprising poses.
