One of Birmingham's most famous modern sons is returning to his home city for one night only. Comedian is to entertain fans at the
Birmingham Repertory Theatre on November 1st.
Joe , who temporarily changed his name to Hugo Boss for his consumer television series, will host a work-in-progress fundraising comedy show at The REP along with some of his favourite, and funniest friends. For one-night only, fans of the Birmingham-born comedian and BAFTA nominated TV star will be able to enjoy a riotous mix of brand new material, alongside some of the hottest new names in comedy. The show will provide vital support for The REP, helping the theatre to recover from the past 18 months of the coronavirus lockdown and secure its future. Joe said: "
I am super excited to be able to perform at The REP with my friends – who are also some of the UK's funniest comedians. The past year has been very difficult for everyone working in the arts, but I am so glad that we can all get together, put on this show in my home city and that I can do my bit to help The REP."
Since starting stand-up comedy in 2007, Joe has gone on to perform two sell-out UK tours and made several international appearances. He has appeared on numerous television programmes including
QI,
The Graham Norton Show,
The Royal Variety Performance,
8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown and
Sunday Night at the Palladium and also hosted
Live at the Apollo and
The One Show. He hosts his own consumer comedy hybrid show for Channel 4 called Joe Lycett's
Got Your Back, which won the 2021 Royal Television Society Award for the best formatted factual programme. In 2020, he changed his name by deed poll to Hugo Boss in protest of the brand sending cease and desist letters to small businesses but later changed it back to Joe Lycett.
will play at Birmingham Repertory Theatre on 1 November 2021. Tickets priced £22 can be booked at www.birmingham-rep.co.uk or by calling the theatre box office on 0121 236 4455.
