I am a writer and teacher, out and about in the world but with Nottingham never far from my heart.
A true legend calls time on her touring career
The word "legend" is chucked about a lot this days, often without justification, but few would argue that an artist like Joan Armatrading is not deserving of this tag. A veteran of 19 studio albums - including the 1977 hit Show Some Emotion - Joan is preparing to bring her trademark style to Manchester this march, maybe for the final time.

Although Joan Armatrading's name always appears high up on a bill she plays, this tour marks the first time she has embarked on a full scale solo tour. It looks also to be her last, as the 64 year old explains in her own words;

"I will never retire but this will be the last major tour that I will undertake. For the first time these concerts will be me solo on stage playing the guitar, piano and singing," Armatrading, who has been in the music business for over four decades, said.

"I have absolutely enjoyed the last 42 years of performances but now, with my final major tour, I want to capture a unique memory for both myself and the audience."

With this in mind, Joan's performance on March 12th at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall promises to be an extra-special one. Armatrading's music charts a life of extraordinary experience from her early childhood in St Kitts and Antigua, through to her breakthrough on the Birmingham music scene, musical theatre performances, film soundtracks and becoming a cult hero to thousands of fans the world over.

Tickets start at 29.50 including booking fee and doors are at 7:30pm. Don't miss out!
